Catch a movie at Cine Tutu, the new São Paulo cinema by Isay Weinfeld

Architect Isay Weinfeld, who co-directed a feature film in 1988, has designed Cine Tutu, a 114-seat independent cinema and the first street cinema in São Paulo's Vila Madalena. Visitors pass through a café-bar and a lounge-style waiting area with olive-green banquettes, then reach a screening room with floral-print seating, an 8.9m screen, 4K projection and Dolby 7.1 sound. The venue, founded by Paulo Velasco, is one of the locations for the 50th São Paulo International Film Festival.

How do you create a design to last for a 1,000 years?

London studio Nebbia, founded by Madhav Kidao and Brando Posocco, has completed Interlude, the second work in New Zealand's Paererewā programme, which aims to produce 1,000 pieces built to endure for a millennium. The climbable, portal-shaped sculpture stands on a cliff in Jardine Park and is made from basalt bluestone sourced in Timaru. The designers say it need not stay unchanged, since the region's seismic activity and the vast timespan mean it may weather or fragment over time.

Jean Prounis' 'Moderne' jewellery collection is inspired by art deco New York

New York jeweller Jean Prounis has launched 'Moderne', a collection paying homage to the city's art deco era, made in 22-carat yellow gold with rock crystal, diamonds and other gems. Her team studied pochoir prints at the New York Public Library, local architecture and archive pieces by Cartier and Maison Fouquet. The theme is also personal, as her great-grandfather co-opened the Versailles nightclub in 1936, and the pieces include tasselled sautoirs and square-cut diamonds.
